Preserved in the Biblioteca Comunale at Imola is a letter of 7 December 1843 by Anna Fanti (1809–1881), daughter of the then librarian, recording her donation to the library of a daguerreotype that she claimed was one of the first to be executed in Paris in 1839 under the direction of Louis-Jacques-Mande Daguerre. The gift of the daguerreotype was accompanied by a copy of the second edition of Daguerre's Historique et description des procédés daguerreotype et du Diorama, published on 28 September 1839 by his collaborator and business associate Alphonse Giroux.
