The authors study how to design a conventional nonlinear feedback controller to drive a chaotic trajectory of the well-known (continuous-time) Duffing system to any of its inherent periodic orbits. The motivation for this research is twofold. First, the controller's design for driving a chaotic trajectory to a periodic orbit is more difficult and hence more interesting from a theoretical point of view. Second, it has a more significant physical meaning, for example, when a periodic oscillation of a machine is expected to be recovered from its chaotic situations during the motion and then to be maintained thereafter.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
