Abstract Trityl triflate (III), obtained upon treatment of trityl chloride (I) with trimethylsilyl triflate (II), is coupled with sodium tetraphenylborate (IV) to give trityl tetraphenylborate (V) which reacts with the ruthenium complex (VI) under hydride abstraction to produce the fulvene complex (VII).
