ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis and Reactivity of Bis(o‐nitrophenyl)platinum. X‐Ray Crystal and Molecular Structure of Cyclic (Pt(o‐C6H4N(O)O)(o‐C6H4NO2)(PPh3)).

Refluxing a mixture of Hg(o‐C6H4‐NO2)2 and K 2 (PtCl 4 ) or PtCl 2 in EtOH (2‐3 h) yields the complex (II), which reacts with monodentate ligands to give (I) or (III) depending on the molar ratio of reactants, and with bidentate ligands to give (IV) and (V).
