Abstract A method to prepare SrTiO 3 by the citrate route and sol‐gel freeze drying is presented and the prepared titanates are characterized by BET surface area measurements (up to 40 m 2 /g), XRD, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, conduction‐band position measurements and electron microscopy.
