Abstract TiO 2 powders with various surface hydroxyl densities are prepared by thermal treatment (7 h at 600‐1000 °C) and their activity for photocatalytic O 2 evolution in aqueous suspensions is studied in the presence of various electron acceptors (AgNO 3 , K 2 PtCl 4 and KBrO 3 ).
