Characterisation of Pretreatment Processes Applied to Aluminium Alloys to be Coated with Organic Layers

It is well know that the natural oxide film which forms when an aluminium surface is exposed to the atmosphere is responsible for the high corrosion resistance of aluminium. This corrosion resistance can be improved by organic finishes such as paints or lacquers. Substrate pretreatments play in this case an important role in the protection behaviour of aluminium alloys.
