Chapter 21 Transcranial Low-Level Laser (Light) Therapy for Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury in Animal Models

In this chapter, the fundaments of low-level laser (light) therapy(LLLT) for wound healing in animal models will be presented.At the beginning, a brief explanation of the physiology of woundhealing and the corresponding phases (inflammatory, migration,proliferation, and maturation) will be given. Moreover, the possibledose-response influence of LLLT on healing phases and wounddepths and the influence of different wavelengths on wound healingwill be discussed. From this point, this chapter will be completedwith low-intensity laser irradiation on infected wounds.
