This paper investigates a wide-band packetised, slotted-ALOHA style CDMA system designed for mobile communications operating in a harsh urban environment. The propagation environment is characterised by fast Rayleigh multipath fading. The system considered is based on an iterative LMMSE receiver algorithm which adapts to the fading channel environment. The receiver algorithm lends itself well to the addition of diversity techniques and the benefits of antenna diversity are examined. Finally the throughput for the system is examined.
