This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: Primary Objective To determine whether antidepressants are clinically efficacious in the treatment of depression in adults infected with HIV. Secondary Objectives To determine which anti‐depressant class is most efficacious for the treatment of depression in adults infected with HIV. To determine if the side‐effect profile of antidepressant therapy is tolerable for adults infected with HIV. To determine if antidepressant therapy is acceptable to adults infected with HIV.
