A new low-cost and integrated adjustable speed drive (ASD) topology with almost unity input power factor is presented. The motor is a two phase Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) with asymmetrical rotor. The converter used to control the SRM and input power consists of a single switch boost rectifier and two H-bridge inverters. The inductance of the boost rectifier is integrated into the SRM. The drive is controlled in order to continuously equal the output power from the DC-link to the input power drawn from the line supply. As a consequence of the control strategy, the need for energy storage in the DC-link is near zero. The proposed drive topology is verified through ex-
