Abstract

Amphiphilic phenylacetylenes (PAs) with different crown ether side groups have been successfully polymerized in high yield by organorhodium catalysts, especially, [Rh(cod)Cl]2 and [Rh(nbd)Cl]2. Mo and W catalysts, however, do not exhibit any catalytic activity for polymerization of 1 and 2. The polymers obtained are highly stereoregular (cis-rich) and exhibit higher thermal stability than the parent polyPA.
