Abstract

The vibration test, which is an estimation of the modal parameter of a bridge on the basis of measuring the vibration of the bridge, was carried on the Aswan Cable Stayed Bridge in south of Egypt. The test was performed using a 300kN truck traffic load. Eleven positions were used to monitor the bridge response. 3D model was performed for the bridge using finite element program. Fundamental frequencies and mode shapes obtained from the finite element model were compared to the experimentally obtained ones and were found in good agreement for the first modes of vibration. It seem that the obtained data is useful for monitoring based maintenance scheme.
