Abstract P091: Atrial Fibrillation Prevalence and Clinical Correlates Among Diverse Hispanic/Latinos: The Hispanic Community Health Study / Study of Latinos (HCHS-SOL)

Introduction: Hispanics are the largest minority ethnic group in the US. There is limited data on the epidemiology of AF on Hispanic/Latino populations. Previous studies examined Hispanics/Latinos as an aggregate group or only Mexicans. Methods and Results: Total of 16,415 adult men and women HCHS-SOL participants were included in the analyses (60% women, 59% age > 45 years) representative of major US Hispanic background groups: Cuban (CU), Dominican (DR), Mexican (MX), Puerto Rican (PR), Central American (CA), and South American (SA). AF was defined by 12-lead ECG and/or self-report of a physician diagnosis. Ethnic-specific AF prevalence rates were determined. Weighted sequential logistic regression models were adjusted for demographic factors (age, sex, education) and clinical variables (diabetes, hypertension, body mass index, tobacco use, and eGFR).
