In this paper,a simple direct torquecontrol (DTC)methodforsensorless matrix converter drives is proposed, whichischaracterized bya simple structure, minimal torqueripple andunityinput power factor. Alsoagoodsensorless speed-control performance inthelowspeed operation isobtained, while mtaining constant switching frequencyandfast torquedynamics. Itispossible tocombine the advantages ofmatrix converters with theadvantages oftheDTCstrategy using spacevector modulation a deadbeat algorithm inthestator fluxreference frame.Experimental results areshowntoillustrate the feasibility oftheproposed strategy.
