Ein [Cu2S2}-Kern konnte mithilfe eines neuartigen Liganden stabilisiert werden, der die Bildung zweikerniger Zentren begünstigt. Der entstehende Dikupferkomplex wurde in zwei formalen Oxidationszuständen (siehe Bild) isoliert, die die wesentlichen strukturellen, spektroskopischen und funktionellen Eigenschaften des CuA-Zentrums nachahmen.
