AMD3100 (plerixafor, Mozobil®) was first identified as an anti-HIV agent specifically active against the T4-lymphotropic HIV strains, as it selectively blocked the CXCR4 receptor. Through interference with the interaction of CXCR4 with its natural ligand, SDF-1 (also named CXCL12), it also mobilized the CD34+stem cells from the bone marrow into the peripheral blood stream. In December 2008, AMD3100 was formally approved by the US FDA for autologous transplantation in patients with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma or multiple myeloma. It may be beneficially used in various other malignant diseases as well as hereditary immunological disorders such as WHIM syndrome, and physiopathological processes such as hepatopulmonary syndrome.
We report here the performance obtained with a laboratory compact caesium clock based on coherent population trapping (CPT). The clock is working with two orthogonal linear polarizations made by two phase-locked continuous lasers tuned to 895 nm and separated by 9192 MHz. Since the Local Oscillator (LO) noise and the laser relative intensity noise (RIN) are the two main noise source contributions important effort has been done to reduce their contributions and therefore improve the short-term frequency stability at the level of about 2.3×10 -13 at 1 s. We present in this paper the results of these studies.
A general EDM wire electrode can consist of four components.First of all the core of the wire, that is mostly responsible for tensile strength and electrical conductivity. On the core there can be an intermediate layer that gives extra conductivity to a high tensile but less conductive core. Then there is the coating which is intended to provide the wire with a high (economic) cutting speed. And fourth: on top of a wire a very thin superficial layer may be applied with variant purposes. The presence of all four or just some of these components depends on the intented use of the wire. This paper discusses the design and testing of two high tensile strength wires for EDM meant for accurate cutting, one with small diameter and one with large diameter. The design phase starts from this functional decomposition. The results clearly illustrate the benefits of a high strength wire electrode, i.e. a considerable raise in accuracy, especially in corner cutting.
