A class of semilinear parabolic equations is analyzed through H 1-Galerkin nonconforming mixed finite element method. The same order of convergence is obtained as finite element method without using Ritz projection.
The potential distribution in a deformed ZnO nanowire relies upon its piezoelectric and semiconductive properties. Here we systematically investigate the influence of different parameters on the equilibrium potential distribution. In particular we calculate the electric potential distribution when thermodynamic equilibrium among free charge carriers is achieved for nanowires under different doping concentrations (n or p type), different applied forces, and different geometric configurations. We show that doping concentration is the parameter that mostly affects the magnitude and distribution of the piezoelectric potential.
The guaranteed performance consensus problem for multi-agent systems with Lipschitz nonlinear dynamics is investigated, where the interaction topology is directed. Both switching and fixed interaction topologies are considered. By the matrix transformation method, the guaranteed performance consensus problems are transferred into guaranteed performance stabilisation problems. Then, the criteria of guaranteed performance consensus for nonlinear multi-agent systems with switching and fixed interaction topologies are obtained, respectively. For the introduced performance function, an upper bound is given. Finally, numerical simulations are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.
Well-tailored three-dimensional (3D) ZnO nanowire architectures have been successfully grown on Si microtrenches fabricated using nanoimprinting lithography by a low-temperature hydrothermal approach. Au nanoparticles or ZnO nanofilms were used as templates to tailor the orientation ordered nanowire growth normal to the microtrench surface. Au produced sparse nanowire growth, while ZnO seeds created densely packed growth. Optically, other than displaying a primary color when viewed from one incident angle, the 3D nanowire architecture periodically displayed multiple primary color domains covering all microtrenches and the local orientation ordered nanowire arrays. A pre-growth annealing of ZnO nanoseeds resulted in nonuniformity and non-periodic distribution of the grown nanoarchitectures and thus reduced the multicolor effect.
Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a life-threatening parasitic infection transmitted by phlebotomine sandflies. We undertook this study to analyze the clinical features of pediatric VL in a population of Chinese children.A retrospective study was performed with pediatric patients (≤14 years) diagnosed with VL based on bone marrow biopsy, serology and diagnosis based on clinical manifestation and the improvement after the experimental drug when negative bone marrow and serology results were shown in West China Second Hospital, between January 2001 and December 2015.A total of 43 patients were determined as having a VL infection (ranging from 4 months to 12 years with a slight male preponderance). Sixty-seven percent were less than 5 years of age and 74% of patients resided in endemic regions. The average time to diagnosis from the onset of symptoms was 37.5 days (ranging from 5 days to 6 months). The main clinical manifestations were fever (98%), splenomegaly (98%), hepatomegaly (74%), pancytopenia (72%), pallor (33%), cough (33%) and lymphadenopathy (33%). Hepatic dysfunction was also found in 24 patients (68%). All patients were treated with meglumine antimonite; only 1 child was treated with liposomal amphotericin B after resistance to meglumine antimonite was discovered. Patients were clinically cured except for 1 patient, who died from hemorrhagic shock because of refusal of standard treatment.Although there were no specific clinical manifestations of pediatric VL, a characterization of the overall symptoms may lead to an improved awareness of VL by clinicians and prompt early diagnosis and treatments. Presently, pentavalent antimony remains the first-line drug and there is low resistance in China.
